Despite this year’s cryptocurrency downfall,Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the co-founders of Gemini Trust Co., are trying to encourage individual investors through a new mobile app.
The recently launched app permits users to purchase Bitcoin and other virtual currencies on their exchange. The product has shed almost 80 percent of its value this year, a low point for the market of Bitcoin. However, the Winklevoss twins believe that they can navigate through the disbelief over these digital assets.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Tyler Winklevoss said that they are totally at home in winter. His twin Cameron added, “it gives us time to build internally, and refine and kind of catch our breath.”
Cameron also described the app as a bid to get in touch to retail investors. He said, “the reality of the situation is that we have a diverse customer base. And the retail story is just beginning.”
For the coming year, Gemini prioritizes on getting users on the app where they can buy digital assets individually or in a basket. It also wants to expand in Asia where some of the major virtual exchanges are present – Bitfinex, Digifinex and Huobi.
Gemini is a New York trust company that is regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services. It operates in Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, U.K. and in almost all the U.S.states.
